BRIDGING THE SKILLS GAP- Beyond Classrooms
As transformations continue to race ahead, Singapore continues to invest in developing digital capabilities across the economy. There is a greater demand to equip "all firms", notably SMEs, to "go digital", and to train Singaporeans in digital skills.
Hold up: Singapore is out to plug its skills shortages. How?
Hear from Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry & Ministry of Education, and other employers on staying ahead in the transformation journey through investing in employees' skills development and learning.
Singapore case study:
SkillsFuture Singapore is a national movement to provide Singaporeans with the opportunities to develop their fullest potential throughout life, regardless of their starting points. However, most Singaporeans rely on employers to send them for training. That makes the role of employers critical to motivate and kick-start their employees’ participation in SkillsFuture Singapore programmes.
Yet, the role of the employers is not an easy one. The success of promoting SkillsFuture initiatives to their employees and the outcomes of their employees’ participation in the programmes are not without challenges - manpower loss during their employees’ participation in courses and the difficulty in measuring effectively the outcomes and more.
Making the Uncertain Certain
SkillsFuture is a long-term transformative journey. It will require Singaporeans, employers and the Government alike to be nimble and ready for the ever-changing future and its needs.
How can we move forward in working towards filling the skills gap?
