Ellen Lee Geck Hoon, JP, PBM – Consultant, Belinda Ang Tang & Partners

Ellen was admitted to the Singapore Bar on 14 January 1981. She was elected twice as a Member of Parliament for Sembawang GRC (Woodlands) in 2006 and 2011 and retired in 2015. During her tenure as MP, she held several honorary local and international appointments. More prominently, she was the Chairman of the Singapore-Europe Parliamentary Friendship Group and a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association's Women Parliamentarian Executive Committee.

Ellen was also Vice-Chairman of the Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) for the Ministries of Defence and Foreign Affairs and concurrently a member of the GPC for Health. She was also a member of the GPC for the Ministries of Law & Home Affairs and the then Community, Youth and Sports (now Ministry of Social & Family Development). She served in the special committee led by MP Seah Kian Peng to review and amend the Maintenance of Parents Act. Ellen was also appointed Board Member of the Land Transport Authority from 2011 to 2017 and was also Chairman of LTA’s Finance and Establishment Committee and a Member of LTA’s Risk Management Committee.

Ellen now concurrently serves in the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Criminal Law Advisory Hearing Committee, the Law Society’s Inquiry Panel and Family Law Practice Committee, Appeal Boards of the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s  Disciplinary Actions Panel and the Institute of Technical Education Committee of Inquiry; as President of the Singapore Table Tennis Association and Silver Ribbon (Singapore) respectively; the Ministry of Health’s Transplant Ethics Committee;  Teaching Service Provider of the Singapore University of Social Sciences;  Deputy Registrar of the Registry of Marriages and Licensed Marriage Solemniser; Board Member of Promoting Alternatives to Violence (PAVE) and Honorary Legal Advisers to several NGOs, VWOs, Chinese Clans, Associations, Literary, Cultural and Religious organisations and charities.
