Recent Procedural and Substantive Law Changes in Family Law 

In accompanying a client through the arduous litigation journey, a family lawyer has to navigate a myriad of recent changes in terms of substantive law and procedural processes. Even so, the ideal that the family lawyer strives to arrive at has remained unchanged through the years – to achieve a just and fair outcome for the parties, and to provide a framework for the family to move on with their lives.

The Family Conference 2022 will be centered on the theme "Essentials for the Journey into New Frontiers” and held virtually over 2 days on 13 & 14 September 2022. The Conference will explore the many procedural and substantive law changes that have come into effect in the past year, and the corresponding challenges faced by family lawyers in practice.

In heralding new frontiers, this year’s Family Conference will also be combined with the Family Justice Practice Forum, which will take place in the morning of 14 September (Day 2 of the Conference). This inaugural collaboration will thus bring together the valuable insights and perspectives of different stakeholders in the family justice ecosystem – including the Family Justice Courts, the Ministry of Social and Family Development, and The Law Society of Singapore - in a single Conference as our speakers and participants delve deeper into the family litigation process in light of the recent procedural and substantive law changes, from start to finish.
