FYI Series: The Brand Safety Landscape in Southeast Asia

Thursday, Sep 19, 2019, 08:30 am - 10:30 am

10 Marina Boulevard, LinkedIn Asia-Pacific HQ, Level 34, Singapore, 10 Marina Boulevard, , , Singapore

IAB SEA+India conducted a survey of the online advertising industry to learn what the real pain points are around brand safety, viewability and ad fraud. This project was undertaken to find out how well these topics are understood in the region and to identify any knowledge gaps in the industry.

In this event we unpack the key learnings from the survey, and address one of the core needs showcased by the results; better understanding of ad fraud. Fraud is seen as a specialist’s topic, one that is only understood by those in more senior client-facing roles and technical roles. But as a region where almost $260 million USD could be lost to fraud in 2019, now is the time for the industry to come to a better understanding of ad fraud.

Registration begins at 8.30am.

9.00am to 9.05am - Welcome and Introductions (5 minutes)

  • Chris Hartsuiker, Regional Research and Policy Director, IAB SEA+India

9.05am to 9.35am - Opening keynote: the Brand Safety landscape survey (30 mins)

In our opening keynote we reveal the results of our brand safety landscape survey - who responded, what issues did they report, and what is holding us back as an industry? This keynote will explain what we’ve learned about brand safety standards and measures used to protect brands, what inconsistencies are prevalent in the region, and what the IAB SEA+India will do with these findings.

Presenter: Audrey Kuah, Managing Director, Global Data Innovation Centre, Dentsu Aegis Network

9.35am to 10.15am - Panel: Should we be playing the blame game in ad fraud? (40 mins)

When it comes to ad fraud, should we really be playing the blame game? There are many different angles to take when it comes to responsibility for ad fraud, and it is difficult to unpack who should take the first steps in addressing fraud. So how do we get a handle on identifying when fraud is really happening, and which types of fraud should we be most worried about? In this panel, we bring together views from brands, agencies and publishers to understand what ad fraud means to their side of the industry, who should show the most concern over ad fraud, who has the means to prevent it, and how to come to a better mutual understanding of realistic campaign goals.
