About the Conference
Organised by the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Singapore Limited (IPAS) (with The Law Society of Singapore appointed as the conference organiser), the Singapore Insolvency Conference is the largest restructuring and insolvency conference in Singapore, and serves as a gathering node for the community in Asia and beyond. Previous iterations saw delegates from Asia, North America, Europe and Australasia. After holding last year’s event in a virtual format, we are excited and look forward to welcoming delegates to this year’s conference in person.
The theme for this year’s conference “Opportunities amidst Uncertainty and Challenges” is underpinned by an appreciation of the challenges and issues faced by businesses today and the near future, but coupled with a quiet optimism of exploring opportunities and prospects. The legal systems and the roles of insolvency practitioners will need to continue to evolve to help businesses navigate the environment they operate in and maximise value for different stakeholders to the extent possible.
The Conference will open with the Keynote Address by the Guest of Honour, followed by a panel session with industry leaders discussing the trends and issues and how they affect the insolvency and restructuring landscape in Singapore and beyond. The Conference continues with plenary sessions offering a cross-disciplinary and cross-jurisdictional platform discussing issues, which go beyond developments in law and practice, and extend to nascent areas such as virtual or crypto assets and businesses, and alternative sources of funding. In addition, we will have a session dedicated to representatives from insolvency institutes or bodies from countries in South East Asia, which helps augment Singapore’s role as a regional restructuring and insolvency hub. The Conference will close with the Judicial Colloquium involving judges from different jurisdictions.
