About the Programme
Nothing is constant, except change. However, in recent years, that constant has reached wider and deeper than before and become widespread disruption! The word disruption is now in the mind of everyone - professionals and their clients. The legal profession has not been spared from disruption – the use of legal technology/AI, changes in law firm business models, billing structures, specialisation of lawyers, and the multi-generational workforce, to name a few things – has changed not only how legal services and products are delivered but who delivers them as well. While there has been much effort and progress in preparing the profession to embrace legal technology/AI to enhance individual and firm productivity, these efforts cannot progress without a different legal workforce that is led and managed in a different way. The need for greater innovation, collaboration and different skills, knowledge and experience for the legal workforce of the future is becoming more critical for the survival of the law firms and individual lawyers. So, what should law firm leaders do about all of this? How should they prioritise? Where do they make a start? Why should they make a start? This Masterclass seeks to address these questions by focusing on the human aspect of the change management process, through the Why’s, What’s and How’s.
What is a change management process; where do you begin; how is it structure, monitored and managed; what different leadership skills are needed; how to change lawyer mindsets; how do you know if it is working?
What is collaboration; why do people resist it; how do you start it in a law firm; why it is a critical part of law firm digital transformation and business model re-structuring?
Workforce of the Future
What new capabilities are required in a digital law firm; how do these differ from a traditional law firm; where can they be found; how do they connect to new and different legal business models; what should the split be between human and digital resources; how should it all be led and managed?
This programme is not the usual conference or workshop that you would have attended. You will not be sitting in a lecture theatre or conference room, taking notes or listening to a speaker. It is highly participatory where you will be expected to share your experiences and challenges as leaders in your teams and firms in discussions during the programme. There will also be facilitated discussion with facilitators sharing examples and recommend best practices.
