Second Minister for Law, Finance and Education
Ms Indranee Rajah SC is Singapore’s Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Law, Finance and Education.
Before she entered politics, she ran a very successful practice in Civil and Commercial Litigation and international arbitration. She was appointed Senior Counsel in 2003, and was Deputy Head of Drew & Napier’s Dispute Resolution Department until October 2012, when she left to join the government.
She was a Deputy Speaker of Parliament from 2006 to 2011, Senior Minister of State for Law and Education from 2012 to 2015 and Senior Minister of State for Law and Finance from 2015 to April 2018. She was appointed as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Education on 1 May 2018.
Under her law and finance portfolios, Ms Rajah co-chaired a Working Group on Legal and Accounting Services, under the auspices of the Committee on the Future Economy. The recommendations of this Working Group, released in 2017, contain important initiatives aimed at transforming the legal and accounting industries in Singapore, including the dispute resolution sector.
