The DBS-NUS Social Venture Challenge Asia is co-organised by:
A leading global university centered in Asia, the National University of Singapore (NUS) is Singapore’s flagship university, which offers a global approach to education and research, with a focus on Asian perspectives and expertise. NUS has 16 faculties and schools across three campuses, with over 37,000 students from 100 countries, who enrich the NUS community with their diverse social and cultural perspectives. NUS’ transformative education includes a broad-based curriculum underscored by multi-disciplinary courses and cross-faculty enrichment.
NUS Enterprise was established to provide an enterprise dimension to NUS teaching and research. It nurtures talents with entrepreneurial and global mind-sets and promotes the spirit of innovation and enterprise through a wide variety of programmes and activities. As Asia’s thought leader for innovation and enterprise, NUS Enterprise engages in active industry partnerships, and provides experiential entrepreneurial education and holistic entrepreneurship support for the NUS community.
For the entrepreneur community, NUS Enterprise actively organises year-round outreach and education programmes and events. Such activities are triggered upon anticipation of industry trends and occur regularly. One such initiative is the Social Venture Lab@NUS which promotes and incubates innovation based social ventures with potential to scale. Its programmes cultivate awareness and encourage participants to respond and react to the rapid developments within the social entrepreneurship space. Worthwhile ventures may also receive help in securing funding from grants like the Youth Social Entrepreneurship Programme (YSEP) for Start-Ups by the Ministry of Social and Family Development. Events are often organised in collaboration with investors, industry contacts and Institutes of Higher Learning, reinforcing our belief in the importance of the community.
