About the Programme

As cross border transfers become ubiquitous, so do data privacy (and similar) laws. Companies are now presented with a number of legal routes to lawfully execute cross border transfers of data, some of which include standard or model contract clauses. To facilitate intra-ASEAN data transfers, the ASEAN Digital Data Governance Working Group developed the ASEAN Model Contractual Clauses for Cross Border Data Flows (MCCs). The MCCs are template contractual terms and conditions that may be included in the binding legal agreements between businesses transferring personal data to each other across borders. It was approved by at the ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting on 22 January 2021.

Join us in this webinar to learn how the ASEAN MCCs support and ensure personal data protection in cross border transfers, and how legal counsels and practitioners can use and incorporate these MCCs into binding legal agreements.

The Learning Objectives and Outcomes are -

  • Understand the policy and legal considerations behind the ASEAN MCCs
  • Understand the legal context in which cross border transfers occur, and how the ASEAN MCCs ensure personal data protection
  • Learn how the ASEAN MCCs can be applied legally in data transfer arrangements
  • Gain awareness about existing tools for data transfer within ASEAN
