About the Programme
As cross border transfers become ubiquitous, so do data privacy (and similar) laws. Companies are now presented with a number of legal routes to lawfully execute cross border transfers of data, some of which include standard or model contract clauses. To facilitate intra-ASEAN data transfers, the ASEAN Digital Data Governance Working Group developed the ASEAN Model Contractual Clauses for Cross Border Data Flows (MCCs). The MCCs are template contractual terms and conditions that may be included in the binding legal agreements between businesses transferring personal data to each other across borders. It was approved by at the ASEAN Digital Ministers’ Meeting on 22 January 2021.
