About the Programme
All manner of conflicts of interest can pose a serious threat to a lawyer's ethical duties and professional obligations, and is a subject that can bedevil both litigators and transactional lawyers. The evolving nature of legal practice and lawyer-client relationships has also given rise to emerging issues that could potentially create new situations of conflicts of interest for the legal profession. How then should lawyers navigate the relevant rules and guidance and take the necessary steps to avoid conflicts of interest, or detect and address such conflicts, early on?
This webinar aims to give legal practitioners practical advice on how to handle conflicts of interest by:
i) Providing a useful framework to analyse common situations arising in legal practice that can give rise to conflicts of interest;
ii) Sharing best practices for detecting and handling potential conflicts of interest; and
iii) Managing specific conflict issues that might arise in legal practice, including conflicts of interests specific to different practice areas.
