COMSOL Workshop: Simulation of Microfluidic Devices using COMSOL
Registration for this session is currently full. Due to overwhelming response, we are organising a repeated workshop in 18 August 2016. Click here to register for that session.
Our FREE hands-on workshops provide engineers, researchers and educators with a valuable opportunity to learn more about COMSOL Multiphysics and its many applications. With a brief introduction and live demonstration, these workshops are designed to cover the fundamentals of modelling simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics. The hands-on portion of the workshop allows attendees to test drive the software by building a model from scratch, allowing each person to leave with the ability to experiment with their own simulations in COMSOL Multiphysics.
Outline
This hands-on workshop will focus on COMSOL’s Microfluidics Module for the simulation of microfluidic devices, covering both theory and practical applications. Participants will learn about the problem setup, the choice of the right physics interface and boundary conditions, the post-processing options, as well as how to build a mesh that is well-suited to fluid flow simulations.
Key contents include:
- Introduction to Microfluidics Module
- Single phase flow
- Pressure driven flow and transport
- Electroosmotic flow (EOF)
- Two-phase flow
- Level set (ls)
- Phase field (pf)
- Moving mesh (mm)
- Rarefied flow
- Multiphysics applications
- Hands-on exercise: Capillary Filling – Level Set Method
Note
-
These workshops will require you to bring your own laptop. Note that COMSOL version 5.2a doesn’t run on a 32-bit Operating System. Please visit System Requirements to see the minimum configuration COMSOL requires for installation.
-
Participants will be provided with a FREE 2-week COMSOL product evaluation license when they attend the workshop.
